This is not an action-adventure story to entertain kids. It is a wonderful tale of torn relationships,
unfortunate circumstances, and how they relate within a family that lives in the Southeast. For those who appreciate life's realities, this is a great read. The love between the brothers was skillfully shown as they risked their lives for each other. The reality of a dad who didn't have much of anything figured out, revealed the vulnerabilities of many.
The only thing I would recommend is that it would have been good to have a picture of a ship with all the parts labeled, since most people I know find it hard to relate to some of the vocabulary. Being able to flip back to the picture would have been helpful to visualize what was going on.
The story was well-written. I highly recommend it.
